Dr. Eason Y. H. Chiu received his Ph.D. degree from the School of Integrated Circuits, Peking University, majoring in Microelectronics and Solid-State Electronics.
His doctoral research, “Research on Key Technology of AlN PMUT-based Time-of-Flight Microsystem for Air Ranging,” focused on ultrasonic MEMS technologies and precision air-ranging systems.
Dr. Chiu has published 8 journal and conference papers, including:
Feb. 2022 — “An AlN-based Piezoelectric Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducer with a Double-Beam Suspended Structure,” JCIE.
Mar. 2021 — “A Novel Ultrasonic TOF Ranging System Using AlN-based PMUTs,” Micromachines.
May 2019 — “Study of Properties of AlN PMUT Used as a Wireless Power Receiver,” 69th IEEE-ECTC, Las Vegas, USA.
He holds over 29 invention patents related to ultrasonic MEMS design, sensing systems, and microscale actuation technologies.
In recognition of his research excellence, he received the 2019 Peking University Taiwan Student Scholarship Doctoral Grand Award.
Dr. Chiu also earned his Master’s degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, National Tsing Hua University, where his thesis “CMOS-MEMS Low Power Pressure Sensing System-on-a-Chip (SSoC)” demonstrated his expertise in low-power integrated MEMS sensor systems.
